Leave a Legacy

We believe in a Tanzania where no family will live with the fear of losing a child to rabies. We believe in a Tanzania where the relationship between dogs and humans is not one of fear and aggression, but one of friendship and appreciation. With your help, we can change the future of Tanzania for good.

There are many ways that you can help support our lifesaving work: find the one that’s right for you.

Our work is made possible thanks to our supporters: the hard work of our international volunteers; the initiative of our fundraisers; the commitment of our regular partners, and the generosity of our donors. We are enormously grateful to everyone who supports us in any way, and we’ll always do everything that we can to make it easier for you to help us. If you have an idea or a question about how you could get involved, please contact Phyllis and the team: we’d love to hear from you.

Volunteer

“I have volunteered with other charities before, and the Mbwa Wa Africa Animal Rescue team and experience is second to none.”

- Susan Cunningham, Veterinary Surgeon, Northern Ireland (pictured)

If you would like to share your skills and enjoy the international volunteering experience of a lifetime in Tanzania, or if you’d like to volunteer your skills from the comfort of your own home or workplace, we’d love to hear from you. Since 2015, we have hosted over 200 international volunteers in Tanzania, each of them playing a vital role in helping wipe out rabies and drive lasting change.

Whether you can spare a week, a fortnight, a month or more, we’d love to hear from you. Typical volunteer roles are noted below; if you have other ideas in terms of the skills you’d like to share, please get in touch:

  • Veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses, to directly support our vaccination, spay and neuter campaigns and train local vets in small animal surgery skills

  • Educators, coaches and community partners, to work in local schools teaching children about rabies risks and humane animal handling

  • General animal handling support

  • Administrative support, either in Tanzania or remotely

  • Communications services, including marketing, website development, social media and more

Monthly Lottery

Play the Four Steps to Freedom lottery for your chance to win £100.00 in our monthly draw!

It costs £5 per month, per number, to take part and you can have as many numbers as you wish. It’s a fun way to support our vital work.

How does it work?

You’ll get your own personal number(s) when you sign up, and those numbers will be yours for as long as you continue to play.

Each month, you’ll be charged £5 per number.

At the end of each month, our computer randomly selects a winning number. The winning number will be announced on our social media accounts, and we will promptly initiate a bank transfer to the winning player. There's no need for you to reach out to us to claim your prize if you win; just relax, and the funds will be transferred directly to your bank account!

Monthly lottery open to UK residents only.

Full Terms and Conditions can be obtained by clicking here.

Leave a Legacy

Make a lasting difference: support our work to wipe out rabies in Tanzania by leaving a gift in your will.

1500 people die every year from rabies in Tanzania, whilst countless thousands of animals die in pain as a result of amateur dog culls that do nothing to curb the spread of the disease.

By leaving a legacy gift in your will to Four Steps to Freedom, you can help us to build a new future for the people and animals of Tanzania, free from the fear and suffering of rabies.

If you would like to remember Four Steps to Freedom in your will, contact Phyllis today for further advice and support.
